The Balm Cosmetics – Time Balm Concealer

Hello lovely readers!

Having acne means I’m very conscious about going out without make-up.  The best way to hide acne or acne scarring is concealer.  I believe that concealer should always be avoided if possible.  The reason for that is because if your foundation can do the job, then why pack on more layers of products.  This can make your look “cake-y” and not very polished/natural.   Also, I believe that wearing make-up, especially high coverage foundation and concealer does not allow your skin to “breathe” properly.

Well, my acne is pretty bad and I want to look as presentable as possible to everyone, especially me (and my self-esteem).  I chanced upon the Time Balm Concealer by The Balm Cosmetics when shopping at The Beauty Bar (a cosmetics store in Philippines that is similar to Mecca in Australia).  As I was looking for a concealer, I decided to just pick any random one.  This item was relatively cheap when compared to my other concealer, so I decided to try it.  Boy, was I glad to pick this one up.

This concealer is about the size of an AUD 50 cent coin and comes in 6 shades.  The colour I got was “Medium”, which is the fourth darkest of the shades.  The concealer comes in a little jar with a screw top.  This design is not bothersome but a little inconvenient for me.  It does not hinder me from getting the product.  I personally like anything that is easy to open, especially when I’m always in a rush.  The good thing about having a screw top is knowing that your product will not dry out or oxidize (oxidize is when the product reacts with the air and change colour/consistency) too quickly.  This product comes with a tiny sponge but I have not used it as I like to use my fingers (clean fingers, please!).  When I first touch the product with my finger, it is dry and have a slight “crystal” feeling.  After my finger has been in the product for more than 2 seconds, the concealer becomes a smooth, creamy texture.  With this concealer, a little goes a long way.  One dip is enough to cover a lot of my acne scaring.   I just have to dab a little on each scar and most of the discolouration is hidden!  I go about dabbing each scar with that one dip and with what is leftover, I then use it to blend.

Conclusion:

I would definitely buy this concealer again when I do run out.  The convenient size is easy to pack for travelling or when on the go and the fact that I only require so little to hide my acne is awesome!  I believe that this concealer is also value for money.

Where to buy:

David Jones

Price:

AUD $ 26.95 for 7.5g (I got it for about AUD$21 in Philippines)

What do you think about this concealer?  Would you buy one?
