Cetaphil Suntivity Repair Liposomal Lotion Body & Face Review

Summer in Sydney can be the best in the world with great weather and lovely sunshine.  Even in winter, the sun shines nice and bright!  Unfortunately, there is a down-side.  The sun shines so brightly, it stings the skin when out too long!  Australia is the only country I’ve been where the sun shines so harshly.  That’s why sun protection is important.  But.. what about your skin after sun exposure?  It needs just as much loving after sun exposure!  Today I’ll be reviewing a product specifically for car after sun exposure – Cetaphil Suntivity Repair Liposomal Lotion.

Nude by Nature – Natural Mineral Cover

Mineral makeup has been becoming more and more popular as there is more demand for makeup since its meant to be better for your skin.  “They” say mineral makeup is better for you.  To be honest, I have never looked too much into it.  Today, however, I thought I should share my review on my first mineral product, atural Mineral Cover Foundation from Nude by Nature, and whether it makes a different.

Bobbi Brown Cleansing Oil

How do you take off your make-up after a long day?  I use Bobbi Brown’s cleansing oil.  This has been my go-to product to remove my basic make-up for awhile.  This product has nut oils, Jojoba oil, Sunflower oil and olive oil – all great for removing make-up without being too harsh.

I only need about 1 and a half or 2 pumps to remove my daily makeup.  You use this with dry hands and after massaging your face with it, wash off with water.  It does not feel oily after washing off with water and my skin does not feel dry.   I have sensitive, acne prone skin and this product definitely does not affect my skin.  It does not remove the really tough stuff like waterproof eyeliner or the lipstick stains.  For the tough stuff, I use the Instant Long Wear Makeup Remover first then I use this product to remove the rest of my makeup.

The top has a lock top – when you turn it clockwise, it will lock so you cannot press down on the pump.   The container itself is a good thick plastic, however, I would put it in my check-in luggage.

Conclusion:

I love this stuff – I’m now on my 3rd bottle.  It’s extremely quick and easy to use and it’s definitely a gentle way to remove my make-up, without the tugging and pulling.

Nail of the Day – OPI Care to Danse?

Hi readers!

Another nail review!  This time it is for OPI from the NYC Ballet Petites!

The OPI nail polish I got is called Care to Danse.  It is a slightly “murky” purple colour.  The polish I got was the petites, so the brush is very small.  You have to be careful when you hold the brush because it is so tiny.  However, it was still manageable for me.  The miniature size of only 3.75ml is handy if you ever needed to chuck it into your clutch.  I mean, who knows, you might want to paint your nails on the go.  Just remember not to annoy those around you as the nail polish smell can annoy a lot of people, especially those in the train!!

Upon first coat of application, I personally feel that there is no colour at all.  I could see the base coat clearly through the first coat.  The second coat was not too much better.  This time I noticed that the nail polish is actually streaky but I can still slightly see the base coat.  You can see the colour on the third application but not what you see in the bottle.  I stopped at 3 coats because I know it was going to take a long time to dry.  One upside is that it was smooth the apply.

What do you think?

Conclusion:

I was not very impressed with this nail polish.  It takes about 3-4 coats of application before you get what you see in the bottle.  The nail polish also takes quite some time to dry and is quite streaky.

Price:

AUD $19.95 for 15ml.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation

Hello hello hello!

Time for a foundation review!  So, I purchased this when there was a discount going on in Priceline.  I’ve heard lots of good things about the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation.. correction, Bourjois Healthy Mix SERUM Foundation.  Yes, I bought the wrong foundation because I mixed up the names.  The Serum foundation is the one with the red cap.

So, let’s get on with the review for Bourjois Health Mix foundation.   This foundation comes in 6 shades, from light to tan.  I got the slightly tan colour (2nd darkest) as I bought this particularly to match my skin tone after coming back from holidays with a good tan.  This liquid foundation provides medium coverage.  It’s good coverage if you do not have very many blemishes but it’s definitely not enough for someone with acne (like me), as the acne still peaks through the foundation and you do have to cover it up with a good concealer.  After application of the foundation, the foundation is still wet to the touch.  It does take awhile for the foundation to dry and will end up with a dewy finish.  To get a matte look, you will have to set it with a powder.  Because this foundation is still quite wet after application, you do have to have to be a bit more careful when putting on the concealer or work the foundation into the skin and wait for it to dry.  Also, the texture does make it feel that you are wearing a slightly heavier foundation.  If you are not a frequent foundation user, you may find this slightly heavy.  This foundation has a very light floral fragrance that goes away after awhile.  The foundation comes in a pump type bottle with a cap, which makes it quite convenient.  As you use the foundation, the bottom of the bottle moves up, meaning no wastage in the bottle! yay!  For some reason, though, the pump on my bottle has gotten a little bit messy…

I bought the shade in 55 (dark beige).  The shade does not really suit me perfectly as I may have bought the shade that is wrong for my yellow undertone.  I should’ve gone with shade 54 because when I sampled it in the shop, it did have a more orange base.  Does this foundation break me out?  Thankfully, no.  It does not make my acne to become any worse than it is.  I also have not developed any sensitivity to this foundation.  So, hurray!

At the end of the workday, however, this foundation does feel that it is melting off my face (even when wearing it on top of a primer and setting it with powder).  I usually feel a bit uncomfortable at the end of the day and would immediately remove it once I get home.  To prevent the uncomfortable feeling, I usually have to blot my face around mid-day mark and around the 3-4pm mark.  I personally would not recommend this foundation for anyone with oily skin.  However, if you do have dry skin, I think this is perfect as it does feel slightly moisturizing.

Conclusion:

This foundation is not suitable for my skin type as I have combination skin (oily T-Zone), hence I would not repurchase.  Also, this foundation does not really conceal my acne, which is my number 1 issue.
