Mehron Cheek Powder Palette

A good blush can do wonders to a look.  It can change up a look or add some colour to your face (especially on those days where you are feeling under the weather).

Mehron Cheek Powder Palette comes in 8 colours – TropiCoral, Rosewood, Mocha, Contour, Mojave, Wineberry, Just Peachy and Bold Red.  This palette has colours for people with the lighter skin tones to the darker skin tone.  The pigmentation of the blushes in this palette is EXCELLENT (yes, emphasis on excellent is required).  Just one very light tap of the brush in the the product can provide so much colour.   On the other hand, you do have to be careful with application because pigmentation is so rich!  There is no shimmer in any of the colours, so this gives a more natural finish.  One downside to this cheek palette is that the product goes everywhere when you dip the brush – a lot of “fall out”.

Packaging wise, it is excellent – light and sturdy.  There is a big mirror on the inside of the packaging.  This palette also comes with a brush but I would say the brush is pretty useless for blush application.  It could work for eyeshadow application.

Conclusion:

I love this blush palette.  My favourite colours are the TropiCoral, Rosewood and Mojave.  I use the blushes in this palette for almost all my looks (you can see my looks here – My Portfolio).  However, you do have to be VERY careful with how much you apply.

Price:

AUD$41.53 for 8 colours; AUD$5.19 each blush (each blush 5.1g, total 41g)

Where to buy:

I bought mine at Camera Ready Cosmetics

What is your favourite blush palette?  This would definitely make it as my favourite of all time (well, currently, anyway).

Palladio Rice Powder in RP02 Translucent

I have not been reviewing any beauty products lately.  It’s now time to break that drought.   I bought this item almost a year ago from the Make Up Geek Store (wow, definitely does not feel like it was a year ago).  I’ve been using this powder for a few months now and it’s probably time to give my review before I finish using the product.

It seems I’ve been using a few “rice” products nowadays (SK-ii, my grandma’s “rice powder mask” – which is fermented rice and dried out)).  Rice products seem to have a lot of good properties but don’t quote me on that since I have not delved deeply into it.   But I’ve always been told not to wash my rice (for consumption) more than twice or I’ll wash all the nutrients away.  So, maybe there is a lot of nutrients in rice.

Palladio Rice Powder is a setting powder you use after your foundation to allow your foundation to last a little bit longer and to give it a matte look.  The colour I purchased was Translucent and it definitely is translucent even though it does not look like it in the container.  This product comes in a square container, with a lid that does not snap close and a “sieve” to separate the sponge from the powder.  The packaging is quite inconvenient for travelling as you do have to either tape down the lid or tie it up.  There is a thin sponge that comes with the product.  It is not the best quality but it definitely does the job.

If I do not use this product after my foundation, I notice that I tend to get quite oily at around the midday mark.  When wearing this product on top of my foundation, I only start to get oily around 3pm.   What I notice about this product is that it takes a lot of it packed on my face before it starts to look cakey.  It does contain talc, so if you’re allergic/sensitive, this product might not be suitable for you.  In regards to it being good or bad for my acne, I can only comment that it does not make it worse because I don’t think it made my acne any better.

Apologies for the very dirty sponge. The original colour of the sponge is cream-white. And the “sieve” should not be the colour of my foundation.

Conclusion:

I love this powder.  It definitely does it’s job at setting my foundation and keeping me less oily for the most part of the day.  The only thing about this product would be the difficulty in getting it, since very few places in Australia actually sell this product and for a higher price as well.  Even with the excess, this product is definitely worth the money! (would be good if they changed the packaging!)

Price:

Varies but roughly USD$5.00

Where to buy:

Few online Australian beauty stores but I bought mine from the Make Up Geek Store.

Have you tried Rice Powders before?

Antipodean Beauties – No Make-up Makeup

Antipodean Beauties Banner

Sorry I missed last 2 weeks’ challenges, a few unexpected things came along.   I know it’s not excuse to miss out on the challenges but I’m back now!  Well, this week, the challenge is “No Makeup Makeup”.

This look is the look I wear to work every single day.  You’ve probably known by now (or not) that I have adult on-set acne, so, I tend to be conscious of my skin.   The look is definitely very minimal, however, I prefer to go minimal as I get it done in no time at all in the morning before work.

So, here I  present my no make-up look:

The Before (Left) and After (Right)
The Before (Left) and After (Right)

Products used:

Face: TheBalm primer, Lancome Teint Visionnaire Foundation in 03, TheBalm concealer in Medium, Palladio Rice powder in RP02 (Translucent), Urban Decay Baked Bronzer in Toasted and Mehron Blush in Mojave

 Eyes: Benefit Brow Zings

Lips: Lucas’ Paw Paw Ointment

Look how the eyebrows have changed the look!  I have to have my eyebrows or I definitely feel like this (except not mascara):

Clearasil Daily Clear Vitamins & Extracts Daily Wash

Clearasil is known to produce products for acne or “clean and clear” skin.  I was gifted their new release product (Clearasil Daily Clear Vitamins & Extracts Daily Wash) for review.  Plus, I was given one more for one of you guys – **edited: Giveaway now closed – winner will be contacted via email**! (READ DOWN BELOW!)

This product is meant to be one of their more gentle cleansers and I agree with that completely.  I am currently on prescription medication for my acne and my face is extremely sensitized from the medication but this cleanser did not make me break out even more or sting my sensitive skin.  After washing, my face does not feel like 100% of all oils have been stripped from it and the skin does not feel tight.  This is good because stripping your skin 100% of all natural oils isn’t very good for you.  I’m a lather and bubbles kind of girl, so in that respect, this product does not really tick that box.  Also, since this product does not really lather and bubble, I notice that I tend to use a lot more of it, sometimes up to 2 pea sizes.  I know it’s not necessary to use so much but…I REALLY WANT THOSE BUBBLES!

The scent of this product – WOW.  Yes.. wow.  I love it.  It’s a very natural fruity scent that is not over the top and it is so very refreshing – a great wake-me-up.  Packaging wise, it’s a standard squeeze bottle but the “nozzle” where the product disperses does annoy me a little.  It has this indent deep enough for your finger, so when you squeeze the bottle, the product stays in the indent and then you use your finger to scoop it out.  Personally, it’s just a teensy bit messy but I tend to be a nit-pick.

You can also use this product as a face mask but I haven’t tried it out yet due to my skin sensitivity.  Face wash that doubles up as a mask??  Unheard of.  This product contains a little bit of Salicylic Acid (it’s not one of the main ingredients), so if you’re extremely sensitive to that, you may want to be careful.

Before you bound off to the closest place to buy this product, it’s probably best to check out which facial cleanser in the Clearasil brand is good for you.  Clearasil has a skin care guide on their website that allows you to choose a product that would be more suitable for your skin.  As you know, I’ve been a sufferer of adult on-set acne for awhile and if you jump at any product, this can actually aggravate your skin even more, hence making you break out even more!
