Klara Cosmetics Kiss Proof Lips

I’ve always had problems with bright and dark lipsticks.  You gotta remember to bring it with you because you’ve got that problem of re-applying after eating or kissing your significant other.  One thing I so want to avoid is leaving a “kiss mark” on someone.  I always have to wipe it off whoever I kiss! Oh, the scandal!! (#firstworldproblems)

Now, here’s a product that claims to be kissproof and long lasting.  Klara Cosmetics Kiss Proof Lips claims to give 24 hour long lasting matte lips, full coverage and high pigmentation.  There are 11 colours in this range.  The colour I was gifted was 09, which is a pinky red colour called “Watermelon Kiss”.  The applicator is a fuzzy tip which is fairly flexible.  It was extremely hard for me to use because the tip bends too much, so it was difficult for me to apply a straight line on the lip.  Well, thank goodness it broke off in the bottle  Yes, the applicator broke off when I was opening it.  AND IT WAS ONLY THE 4TH OR 5TH TIME I opened it!!!!! Now..I’ll have to figure out how to get the most of the product by trying to tip it out.

On another note, let’s talk about the product itself.  The pigmentation is fantastic!  It really delivers the pop of colour that it claims.  It is smooth to apply on the lips and dried very quickly to a matte finish.  You will have to fix any mistakes quickly!  Once it’s dried, it definitely is kiss proof!  There was no transfer whatsoever.  However, the long lasting colour did not last past lunch.  Majority of the lip colour was still there but some of it was completely gone.  I did try to eat as carefully as possible.  It also lost its kiss-proof ability.  There was a little bit of transfer when I dabbed my lips (or kissed someone) and the colour started smudging on my lips.  It could be the oil from the food.

Conclusion:

The product is fantastic, providing great colour and long lasting lips.  Just remember to remove any oil from your lips before re-applying.  Klara Cosmetics has mentioned that there was a default in the packaging, so hopefully, your applicator does not break off!

Girl’s Night Out Hairstyle

I recently went for a friend’s Hen’s night.  Of course, with all Hen’s night, you obviously want to get dressed with all your girls.  With so many girls “fighting” for the mirror, sometimes an easy hairstyle is the way to go.  Here’s a girl’s night out hairstyle that you can wear.

Girls Night Out Hairstyle

Here are the steps:

  1. Comb through hair to get rid of tangles
  2. Loosely curl hair with low heat so that the curls are just loose waves – does not have to be perfect
  3. Scoop hair from one side of head and pull it back to your head and secure with bobby pins
  4. DONE!

Easy enough?

Here’s a pictorial how-to:

Girls Night Out Hairstyle

The great thing about this hairstyle is that you can show off your fabulous earrings and jawline because the hair is swept away from you face.  There’s something about a strong jawline that I love… makes a girl look sexy, especially if contouring is done right!

New Haircut!

So… before the Lunar New Year rolled around the corner, I had to do the traditional thing and go for a haircut.   Apparently, it is bad luck to cut your hair during the Chinese New Year period and this period runs for 14+ days.  I was due for a haircut about a month and a half ago but I keep coming up with excuses or just forgetting about it.  Before my haircut, the length of my hair was up to my waist!!!  Plus, it took an extra 10 minutes to dry my hair!  Oh, the horror! (insert hash tag #firstworldproblems here).

Anyway, NO MORE DELAYS!  I booked myself at Artis Sydney at Bridge Street, Sydney CBD for a haircut and here is my new look, blow-dried straight.   I did ask for a straight look and then regretted it since it was a little too straight for my liking.  However, I previously asked for a volumizing blow-dry and it was the most fantastic blowdry ever!  A good blow-dry can really make one feel fabulous and I certainly did feel fabulous.

So, I told my hairstylist what I wanted – length, volume and a particular set of bangs.

I love my new hairstyle.  I wake up with voluminous hair and I did not even have to style it because it looks great.  Of course, if I want some more oomph, i just give my hair a 2 minute blow-dry in the morning.

Oh, the most important thing…my hairstylist’s name – Lisa McGinn.  Thanks Lisa, I love my haircut! 😉

Palladio Rice Powder in RP02 Translucent

I have not been reviewing any beauty products lately.  It’s now time to break that drought.   I bought this item almost a year ago from the Make Up Geek Store (wow, definitely does not feel like it was a year ago).  I’ve been using this powder for a few months now and it’s probably time to give my review before I finish using the product.

It seems I’ve been using a few “rice” products nowadays (SK-ii, my grandma’s “rice powder mask” – which is fermented rice and dried out)).  Rice products seem to have a lot of good properties but don’t quote me on that since I have not delved deeply into it.   But I’ve always been told not to wash my rice (for consumption) more than twice or I’ll wash all the nutrients away.  So, maybe there is a lot of nutrients in rice.

Palladio Rice Powder is a setting powder you use after your foundation to allow your foundation to last a little bit longer and to give it a matte look.  The colour I purchased was Translucent and it definitely is translucent even though it does not look like it in the container.  This product comes in a square container, with a lid that does not snap close and a “sieve” to separate the sponge from the powder.  The packaging is quite inconvenient for travelling as you do have to either tape down the lid or tie it up.  There is a thin sponge that comes with the product.  It is not the best quality but it definitely does the job.

If I do not use this product after my foundation, I notice that I tend to get quite oily at around the midday mark.  When wearing this product on top of my foundation, I only start to get oily around 3pm.   What I notice about this product is that it takes a lot of it packed on my face before it starts to look cakey.  It does contain talc, so if you’re allergic/sensitive, this product might not be suitable for you.  In regards to it being good or bad for my acne, I can only comment that it does not make it worse because I don’t think it made my acne any better.

Apologies for the very dirty sponge. The original colour of the sponge is cream-white. And the “sieve” should not be the colour of my foundation.

Conclusion:

I love this powder.  It definitely does it’s job at setting my foundation and keeping me less oily for the most part of the day.  The only thing about this product would be the difficulty in getting it, since very few places in Australia actually sell this product and for a higher price as well.  Even with the excess, this product is definitely worth the money! (would be good if they changed the packaging!)

Price:

Varies but roughly USD$5.00

Where to buy:

Few online Australian beauty stores but I bought mine from the Make Up Geek Store.

Have you tried Rice Powders before?
