Graftobian Lip Liners

Hello Hello!

Why do you need a lip liner?  A lip liner helps your lipstick stay within the lips, meaning it won’t the lipstick “bleed” from your lips to the fine lines leading out of the lips.  This is especially obvious if you have a darker/vibrant colour, like red.  If you noticed, there was one scene in Moulin Rouge (where her boss, Zidler, found out that Satine was secretly seeing Christian.  Sorry, I can’t seem to find that scene online) where there was a close up of Nicole Kidman singing.  Her red lips were “bleeding” in that scene.  Another reason for a lip liner is to help shape your lips.  You can use a lip liner to make your lips thinner or thicker.  Lip Liners also help your lipstick stay on longer!  Oh, one more thing.. Lip Liners can help change the colour your lipstick (I might do a short post about it, if you’re interested?)

I bought several Lip Liners from Camera Ready Cosmetics recently.  I misread the description on the website and thought that all the liners were Lip Liners.  Anyway, I bought all 7 colours on the website: 2 of them are actually eye-liners.  The lip liners from the Graftobian range is Tawny, Plum, Coral, Bronze and Pink.  This pencil has a see-through plastic cap to protect the pencil tip. To date, I have only tested the colour Coral.  I must say, I am very pleased with how it turned out.  The formula of this Lip Liner is creamy and pigmented.  The product transferred very easily from the pencil to the lips.  The wear time for this was about 8 hours (includes, dinner, drinks and snack). I only had to re-apply my lipstick after dinner and once more during drinks.  The only down-side to this lip liner, just a small thing that I personally don’t mind, is that it has a very distinct wood/pencil smell.

Colours (L to R):

Pink – a blue-based pink colour

Tawny – a reddish-brown colour

Bronze – a bronze-brown colour with slight shimmer

Coral – a peachy-orange colour

Plum – a darker red colour (blue-based)

Conclusion:

The colour payoff is great, the creamy texture and the product is easily transferable from pencil to lips.  Also, this lip liner stayed on my lips for hours, even after eating.  Did I forget to mention the price??? I really love these lip liners!

Price:

USD$3.32 per pencil on the website below

First impression, the lipstick bullet is matte with a shiny bit in the middle.   Kate’s signature is on the top half of the bullet.  Personally, I think the bullet looks quite classy.  When I first open the top, the smell of berry hits me in the face!  It is quite a strong smell.  The smell reminds me of one of the baby toys I used to have as a kid, where it was a pretend jar of jam/baby food that I could feed the toy doll.  The smell did go away after about 10 minutes of wear (either that or I no longer noticed)

Application on the lips was smooth and the colour is very pigmented.  The colour did not last long on my lips.  During my  6 hour wear, I had to retouch about 5 times even though I only drank water once and I ate one cookie.  I did not notice how often I touched the area around my lips until I found bits of lipstick on my hand.  The lipstick transferred easily from the bullet to my lips but just as easily from my lips to anywhere else.   The lipstick is not drying but it is not moisturizing.  After having dinner, what’s left of my lips is a lip-stain and bits of lipstick in the cracks of my lips.

Conclusion:

For the priced I bought it at (AUD$2), I thought this lipstick was well worth my money.  I would not go out to buy it for AUD$11.95 because the colour did not last and the smell was not to my liking.  Up close, the lipstick did not make my lips look sexy, thus, no pics.

Where to buy:

Any supermarket (Woolworths & Coles) and major pharmacies

Price:

AUD$11.95  (currently on clearance AUD$2.40 at Woolworths for colour #12 and currently going for 3-for-2 at Priceline)
