Colour Theory Lipstick in Flirt Alert

Okay, it’s Friday and I usually blog about something about looks or the likes.  However, due to an unforeseen circumstance, my camera is broken!!  That means I can’t seem to take proper photos with me in it.

I can’t miss my usual Friday post, so I thought I’d do a review on a red lipstick.  What better way to brighten up the Friday than a red lippy.  Today’s red lippy is from Colour Theory called Flirt Alert.  It’s a more orange based red lipstick, so it won’t exactly make your teeth look white.

Klara Cosmetics Kiss Proof Lips

I’ve always had problems with bright and dark lipsticks.  You gotta remember to bring it with you because you’ve got that problem of re-applying after eating or kissing your significant other.  One thing I so want to avoid is leaving a “kiss mark” on someone.  I always have to wipe it off whoever I kiss! Oh, the scandal!! (#firstworldproblems)

Now, here’s a product that claims to be kissproof and long lasting.  Klara Cosmetics Kiss Proof Lips claims to give 24 hour long lasting matte lips, full coverage and high pigmentation.  There are 11 colours in this range.  The colour I was gifted was 09, which is a pinky red colour called “Watermelon Kiss”.  The applicator is a fuzzy tip which is fairly flexible.  It was extremely hard for me to use because the tip bends too much, so it was difficult for me to apply a straight line on the lip.  Well, thank goodness it broke off in the bottle  Yes, the applicator broke off when I was opening it.  AND IT WAS ONLY THE 4TH OR 5TH TIME I opened it!!!!! Now..I’ll have to figure out how to get the most of the product by trying to tip it out.

On another note, let’s talk about the product itself.  The pigmentation is fantastic!  It really delivers the pop of colour that it claims.  It is smooth to apply on the lips and dried very quickly to a matte finish.  You will have to fix any mistakes quickly!  Once it’s dried, it definitely is kiss proof!  There was no transfer whatsoever.  However, the long lasting colour did not last past lunch.  Majority of the lip colour was still there but some of it was completely gone.  I did try to eat as carefully as possible.  It also lost its kiss-proof ability.  There was a little bit of transfer when I dabbed my lips (or kissed someone) and the colour started smudging on my lips.  It could be the oil from the food.

Conclusion:

The product is fantastic, providing great colour and long lasting lips.  Just remember to remove any oil from your lips before re-applying.  Klara Cosmetics has mentioned that there was a default in the packaging, so hopefully, your applicator does not break off!

Illamasqua Matte Lipstick in Liable

Holy Moly!  I never thought I could find a red matte lipstick that would be suitable for me.  I now present to you the Illamasqua Matte Lipstick in Liable.

This lipstick is a matte red lipstick with (personally) a neutral undertone.  The product itself is not very moisturising and can be quite hard to apply as it drags quite a bit.  This can be quite inconvenient for someone like me who is on acne medication and has sensitive and very dry lips.  However, I’m willing to let that all slide as this lipstick has great pigmentation, reasonably long wear and it looks really great on my lips.  As with all lipsticks (or products in general), this one clings on to the dry parts of lips and stands out for all to see.  The lipstick can be quite stubborn to remove from the lips.

Without further a-do.. picture time!

Conclusion:

Although the lipstick is not very moisturizing, it is not very drying either.  Application has quite a bit of tug and pull.  However, the colour payoff is excellent, giving an excellent shade of red.  This lipstick is also really affordable!

Price:

£16.50 (online) or AUD$25.00 (stores)

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait

HAPPY MONDAY!  hope you’re not suffering from massive “Monday-itis” today.

Lippy day today.. It’s the Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait from my recent shopping haul.  Lip Butters were released quite some time ago but I only managed to get my hands on them recently.

This lipstick looks like lipgloss on the lips but it does not have the sticky feel of a lipgloss.  It was slightly moisturising to the lips and wore for at least 2 hours before a reapplication is needed.  The lipstick did not last after a meal and what was left was the gold shimmer.  The colour of this lipstick is pinky peachy with plenty of gold shimmer.  The colour is very natural on my lips with only the gloss and the shimmer showing.  The shimmer is not particularly over-the-top.  There was barely any pigmentation from the lipstick to my lips, which made it look more like a lipgloss.

Conclusion:

This lipstick is moiturising and has the look (and not the feel) of a lipgloss with plenty of shimmer to add some pa-zazz.  It is a great lipstick, however, for the price of almost $22 per lipstick, I personally feel that this lipstick is fairly overpriced.

Where to buy:

Most pharmacies, Coles, Woolworths (look around as some of them have special deals)

Price:

AUD$21.95 per lipstick (2.55g per lipstick)

Have you tried any of the Lip Butters?
