Ink Eyeliner. This little thing is a beast of its own. Personally, I had to graduate from a pencil eyeliner before being comfortable enough to use a liquid eyeliner. One thing I love about liquid eyeliner is the flexibility of drawing a fantastic clean line, whether it be thick or thin. Today, I’m doing a review and a look using Shu Uemura Calligraphy: ink liquid eyeliner. Not going to lie, I bought this liquid eyeliner so I could enter the competition.
Monolids. Some people who have monolids despise them and go ahead with plastic surgery to have them changed to double eyelids. For me, I’m proud to have them. My eyelashes are a tad bit shorter because of my monolids but nothing a good pair of falsies can’t fix!
Most times, I just skip the eyeliner for my daily eyeliner look because I have monolids and the way my eye folds, it hides the eyeliner.
Recently, however, I’ve decided to start wearing eyeliner more often. My go to is usually pencil eyeliner because it doesn’t take long to put on and I usually just want a little “colour” to make my eyes stand out. The thing with pencil eyeliners is that it doesn’t make that nice sharp eyeliner look.
That’s when I decided to start with a cheap liquid eyeliner! ELF Liquid Eyeliner is a very affordable liquid eyeliner. However, this eyeliner doesn’t really work for me. Pigmentation is all right but it’s quite liquid and does not apply easily, leaving streaks. I find myself having to keep going over to try and get a nice solid line. It takes awhile to dry, especially since I have to keep going over, so I usually keep my eyes closed while it dries. This eyeliner also does not last very long on my eyes. It could be because my eyes naturally tuck under causing the eyeliner to dislodge. Yes, I mean dislodge because it flakes off!
The eyeliner comes in a cute packaging. If you have tiny hands like mine, you could hold the eyeliner like a pencil to apply. The eyeliner has a thin and skinny brush to apply. It is a bit too long and can make application a little harder (especially since I have wobbly hands)!
Although it is very affordable, I will not be repurchasing this liquid eyeliner again. It does not last very long on my eyes and application was fairly difficult. I could not find this product on the website anymore. I believe it’s now changed to the ELF Waterproof Eyeliner Pen.
This week’s challenge is kind of exciting.. Femme Fatale.
When I think femme fatale, I think Angelina Jolie (in all her action movies) or Mila Jovovich in Resident Evil. (Girl power ftw?) To me, Femme Fatale makeup is very clean and minimal, sexy, mysterious and powerful. Here is the look I came up with…
Face: Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentrate, Benefit The Porefessional Balm, Maybelline Fit Me Shine-Free Foundation, TheBalm Concealer, Benefit Agent Zero Shine Setting Powder, Benefit High Beam, Mehron Cheek Palette, Urban Decay Baked Bronzer, Viseart Eyeshadow Palette 1 (for contouring)
Eyes: Urban Decay Primer Potion, Viseart Eyeshadow Palette 1, Maybelline Eyestudio in Black, L’Oreal Kohl Eyeliner, Nichido Eye Pencil in Nice Gal, Rimmel ScandalEyes in Nude, Benefit Brow Zings
Lips: Make Up For Ever Aqua Lip in Red, Illamasqua Lipstick in Liable
What do you think? It was definitely a challenge for me to get the winged eyeliner perfect (and showing) on my monolids! I still have to master the lighting/photography thing..
