Sweet Indulgence – Red Velvet Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting
Red velvet cake/cupcakes are so popular. (Click here to read the history) They sell them in almost every cupcake store here in Sydney. I recently tried a Red Velvet cupcake from Ghermez and decided to make some myself! I would rather pay $10 for several home-made cupcakes than get 2 cupcakes at the store!
I got the recipe from: Joy of Baking. I made some changes to the recipe myself because I did not want too much sugar and too much cream! This website is great because it gives you substitutes when you do not have the exact ingredient! Like the buttermilk.
Here is my finished product (taken 24 hours after baking, the red food colouring absorbed into the frosting):
Did it taste better than the shop? Yes! Because I added my own touches! Oh, I skipped out on decorating my cupcakes because decorating isn’t my forte and it’s going to be in your tummy in 5 seconds anyway!
