Shopping Haul: Camera Ready Cosmetics

Hello my fellow readers!

Sorry for the absence!  Well, here’s another post!  A SHOPPING HAUL/REVIEW POST!  Who can resist shopping?  I sure can’t.  Well, I recently made a purchase from a popular make-up store in the US, Camera Ready Cosmetics (www.camerareadycosmetics.com)

I bought plenty of stuff for my make-up kit: foundation, setting powder (the popular banana powder!!!), lipstick palette, non-shimmering blush palette, sponges, Z-Palettes, primer, eyelash adhesive, lip liner and tattoo cover.

I made my purchase on Friday night and received the package on Thursday morning.  That’s 7 days!  I paid for Express Post, so it was insured, I was able to track it and it was, obviously, express.  The express post was reasonably priced  (USD$35), considering the amount of stuff I bought.  If you see the picture below, the box is quite large.  The price of the products at this store is similar to other stores the US but it is much cheaper than in Australia (even after including postage.  I did divide the postage out with the rest of my products).  They do price match, so if you do see something cheaper and they sell it at their store, just request for a price match.  I created an account with Camera Ready Cosmetics and this allowed me to see the status of my order: order received, order being packaged, order shipped and also provided me with the tracking number.  I was personally impressed with the rate they processed my order: processed, packed and shipped all in one day.

The products were packed properly, which I was happy about.  Sometimes, your package could be dropped by accident and it’s hard to return products from US because the postage to send it back is just not worth while.  Camera Ready Cosmetics also accepts Paypal.  Bonus for us international customers!  Click here to see if they post to your country.  I did email them twice but personally, I felt the response was not fantastic.  The site was extremely easy navigate as you can view it by brands or by categories.

Well, without further a-do, here are some pictures:

Conclusion:

The brands sold at this store are not “mainstream”, meaning, you would generally not see them at Myers or David Jones.  I would definitely purchase again when I want to restock my kit, or even buy a few items for personal use.  I would only buy in bulk though, only because the postage would be more worth it, especially since the reason I’m buying it from the US is for the cheap price.

Stay Beautiful!!

I just tried the foundation and the lip liner.  I absolutely love it.  Review to come soon…

IMATS Haul!

Hello Hello!

Last week, I went to the IMATS expo at Darling Harbour Sydney.  There were plenty of stalls, from Crown Brushes, Royal & Langnickel, Hakuhodo, Kryolan, Inglot Cosmetics and many others!  There were also plenty of talks from famous professional make-up artists from around the world.  This expo is particularly geared towards make-up artists but anyone can show up and buy anything.  Certain stores have up to 20% discounts for their products, for example, Scotty’s Make up & Beauty and Inglot.  Brushes are also sold at a very affordable price.  The brushes for Royal & Langnickel range from AUD$3 to AUD$20.

I will give more information about the products in a separate post.   Without further a-do, here are the pictures of my haul!

Shopping Review: Make up Geek Store

Hello Readers!

If you are a beauty follower like me, you would probably have heard of Make-up Geek (www.makeupgeek.com).  She is an awesome beauty blogger/teacher located in the US and I have been following her for quite awhile.   She has her own store  where she sells quite a few items like Palladio, NYX and her own brand.   I have not had a chance to try her brand yet.

Anyway, I recently purchased a few items from her store.  In particular, the Palladio brand.  I have not been able to find this brand in Australia and have been looking on eBay and Amazon.  It was just too pricey on Amazon.  If you know where I can get it in AU for a cheap price, let me know!

Here’s what I think about the store.  I love how you can pay via paypal.  This is very convenient for the international.  Postage is fairly affordable (esp when compared to Amazon!).  Paypal usually sends you a receipt but the MakeUpGeek Store also sends you emails confirming the order and the tracked posting information.  It’s the small touches that count.  I placed my order on Thursday night and I received the postal tracking information by Saturday morning.  The package arrived 2.5 weeks after placing my order.  The packaging is awesome too, the items were individually wrapped in bubble wrap and then in a generously spaced box with those little foam thingy from Toy Story!

Conclusion:

Would I purchase again?  Yes, definitely.  One thing I did wish though, was that the store had more brands/choices!! That would be excellent for those who find it hard to find the brands in Australia!

p.s

look out for some reviews from this haul!

Stay Beautiful!!

Who loves a bargain?? I DO!

Hello my fellow readers!

If you’ve been reading some of my posts, you’ll notice that I usually only buy stuff when it’s on sale or at a bargain!  Well, here’s a bargain!  $10 off at Priceline for any Bourjois product.  Here’s the link to claim your voucher: http://www.bourjois.com.au/  The voucher expires on the 31st August, so hurry and get something (only if you want, of course!)

I’m thinking of buying the Healthy Mix Foundation.  I’ve heard a lot of people using this and would like to try it out myself.  And I’ve also heard that Bourjois owns Chanel.  I’m a huge fan of Chanel.  So, why not try some Bourjois!

Not all Pricelines stock Bourjois, so, it’s probably a good idea to call ahead before you rock up to every Priceline in search of this brand!  There’s one Priceline in the Sydney CBD that stocks this.  It’s the one outside Wynyard station at 309 George Street, Sydney NSW.

Will you be running to the stores to get some Bourjois?

Stay Beautiful!!

Shopping review – MissTrudie.com.au

I recently had to purchase some costume jewellery for an event and came across misstrudie.com.au. Their website is very clean and professionally done. I enjoy browsing through their website as the pictures are fairly big and detailed (thumbs up). Navigating around the website is also fairly easy. There are not many products but enough to give a variety to choose from. One thing I noticed was that in the one week I have purchased my items, there are now new items on the website.  The products consist of rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings and are also fairly priced. I would say that they match the prices of those at Diva (a costume jewellery shop in Australia). Some of the products are currently on sale and this makes it even more worth the buy!  Below are the items I purchased recently (unfortunately I could no longer locate the pictures on the website.  here’s hoping my personal pictures will do the jewellery some justice):

Black Bead Necklace

Black Beaded Necklace (AUD$19.00 – on sale)

Knotted Black Ring (pic taken from MissTrudie)

Knotted Black Ring (AUD$6.00- on sale)

Braided Rope Necklace

Braided Rope Necklace (AUD$29.00)

Gold Long Necklace

Gold Long Necklace (AUD$11.00- on sale)

Rope & Chain Bracelet

Rope & Chain Bracelet (AUD$8.75 – on sale)

Round Bead Ring

Round Bead Ring (AUD$16.50)

I made my purchase on Monday evening, the order was processed the next day and my item came via express post on Wednesday (I opted for express post). I liked the fast processing (thumbs up) and delivery was on time. My first impression when opening up my express post envelope: I was surprised (and happy) at the packaging. Most of the items were in individual boxes and all of the items were wrapped up nicely (and very sparingly) in “tissue” paper (not the ones you use to blow your nose but the light paper).

MissTrudie Packaging

So far, I have worn 2 of the 6 products. I found that the black beaded necklace is beautiful and surprisingly heavy. Some of the beads from this necklace were slightly chipped or scratched but it is hard to see since it’s black and since it was on sale, I didn’t really mind. My hair kept getting caught in it, causing my hair up-do to become messier and messier throughout the day. The black ring was beautiful. The website said the ring was adjustable and I jumped at it. My fingers are tiny and most rings don’t suit me as they are too loose. When I tightened the ring to the max, it did not fit my fingers. I had to have the two ends of the ring band overlap each other. Same goes for the other ring I purchased. This did not matter for the black ring as it was not very obvious. I also accidentally grazed the ring on rough surfaces and the colour did not chip off. This is a good thing as I can be quite careless with my jewellery. The necklace that impressed me the most is the gold necklace. This was the most expensive and it certainly did not disappoint.

Conclusion:
I would definitely buy from this website again. I enjoyed browsing the website and the jewellery was good.

Well, that’s the end of my first shopping review. Let me know what you think!

Stay Beautiful!!
